Remote Viewing
June 8th - 22nd 2006

Remote Viewing, Patricia WalshBrew Cafe

Lancashire artist, Patricia Walsh, created a 7 minute soundscape entitled Remote Viewing. This consisted of an instrumental piece of music called Eternally, and a series of extracts from conversations which explores ethereal beings and environments. The work was played twice a day over a two week period in Brew Cafe, Equator Cafe and the Guild Hall shopping centre, catching people unawares and drawing them into the intriguing audio experience.

This work was commissioned as part of Talking on Corners: a programme of new commissions by female artists who are based in the North West. The programme is curated by Lubaina Himid, Professor of Contemporary Art at UCLan.

By showing the work of these artists alongside more established national and international practitioners in the Here + Now programme, In Certain Places aims to provide a national platform for emerging artists and those who would benefit from a higher degree of exposure.

Other artists in the Talking on Corners programme include Pam Holmes and Chantal Oakes
